Is there a reason why sad songs always get you to feel down even when you're happy?
I hate putting myself in this position. When I'm happy, and listen to a sad song, it always gets me to think about all the sad depressing thoughts, and just throws me into the dumps. Is there like a reason the mind does this? Thanks in advance.

- Its the beat, take the words out and your heart-rate will lower to a slower song. Now your brain interprets the words and sets the stage of any type of low emotion like sadness, lonliness, tiredness etc.... I read an article that says if you want productive employees, play 80"s music because it elevates the heart-rate and makes their brain believe they can work as fast as the music.
- when your around negative people you become more negative. songs are the same way
- It's really not a power the song has, it's just how your brain interprets it. The composer also uses certain techniques in his/her writing to achieve this effect. I believe it has to do with the level of empathy a person possesses also, and your brain is sympathizing with the song so you also become saddened. It's not a bad thing really, you can actually feel a song more than most people. An excellent trait if you are a musician:)
